Landmark Inn
Escape the traffic congestion and relax in an alternative to the 200-room
hotel in the mega-city, at the Landmark Inn. We are just a convenient drive
west from downtown San Antonio, in the quieter historic
town
of Castroville. The Landmark Inn is a premier 1840's bed and breakfast inn,
located just 23 minutes from San Antonio’s Riverwalk, and only 18 minutes
from Sea World. Personal, friendly service will welcome you to a unique
experience that most visitors repeat time after time. Romantic and spotless
B&B rooms are restored and decorated with early American antiques and
present old world charm with modern comforts. Settle into a rocking chair on
the covered porch, stroll the floral gardens, or explore our riverfront
trails and the Medina River waterfall. And although comforts and convenience
are top notch, the price is not—you will rewarded by room rates a fraction
of the big hotels, and low taxes too.
Since televisions were not a part of frontier Texas, they won’t bother
you here either. Instead try some active entertainment- walk or pedal the
historic town tour on the inn’s complimentary bikes, rent a canoe, pitch
some horseshoes, maybe a game of croquet? Bring along a pole and fish the
clean clear waters of the Medina, or skip rocks from its banks. Plus some
great shopping is just steps away in this friendly town, and you will find
some of the finest dining in the Texas Hill Country "just down the street" -
we can even help with reservations. The Alsatian (French-German) cuisine is
unique, and we feature fresh Alsatian pastries each morning for breakfast in
the riverfront parlor.
Casa Navarro
The
Casa Navarro State Historic Site is nestled in downtown San Antonio, TX.
The half-acre site is the restored home of Tejano patriot José
Antonio Navarro (1795–1871). Today, visitors can tour Navarro's adobe home
furnished with period antiques, read copies of his writing, and discuss
questions of history with informed interpreters.
The original house complex consisted of three limestone, caliche block, and
adobe structures, built about 1848. Casa Navarro is the only historic site
in San Antonio dedicated to the interpretation of the Mexican history and
heritage of Texas, as seen through the life of Navarro, a prominent San
Antonio merchant, rancher and statesman.
